Rev. T. Y. Rogers Trail Blazer Award
Criteria for Award:
- The nominees is in a leadership role and blazes a trail to guide others in achieving goals that result in a positive outcome for their community. The nominee demonstrates outstanding leadership in promoting social and equal justice.
- The nominees shall be outstanding individuals who have been involved in community service such as board, commissions or community groups and shall have demonstrated a sustained commitment to their communities.
- The nominees may have been active in local, county or state government.
- The nominees shall have served to influence decision-making on issues other than professional.
- The nominees may demonstrate, through their civic involvement, how the quality of life in their community has been enhanced.
- The nominees may or may not have received payment for professional services rendered, if any.
- The nominees shall show a meaningful commitment to address civil rights issues, including but not limited to voting rights, and to authentically bring about positive change in his or her community.
- Members of the Advancement and Partnership Committee are not eligible to receive the award.
Instructions
Nomination Process
Nominate a noteworthy member of the community for one of the Tuscaloosa Civil Rights History and Reconciliation Foundation Awards. Nominations are due by February 15, 2023. A person may be nominated for more than one award, but, if selected, the person will receive only one award. Posthumous nominations are accepted.

- One support letter is required (250 words or less); a second support letter from another person is optional, but strongly encouraged.
